Back on the 18th of April 1994 my family and I were out in the French countryside enjoying a little vocation from a busy Paris schedule. With a copy of the Larousse Traditional French Cooking by Curnonsky at my side, I created a lovely Huguette Salad together with my first attempt at Turbo with Chambertin Wine. What was significant about the date was that it was the first time I started the habit of noting down comments about the moment – opinions about the recipe, the friends I was with, the wine that was served, and later – notes from friends would appear alongside my own.
